About LIA
My journey, as a mother raising a young daughter, and as a mother to two children on the other side—one lost to stillbirth, the other to a perinatal heart condition—has deeply influenced my work. These experiences and my 25+ years in the corporate world have made me a champion for reproductive rights and workplace equity. I believe in the power of storytelling to unite seemingly disconnected communities and to catalyze change. I share my story to foster empathy and understanding.
My writing has appeared in The New York Times, Refinery29, and CNN. Through my storytelling, I aim to illuminate the intersection of personal struggle and societal change. I've shared my story on award-winning podcasts and am a Moth StorySlam winner. These platforms have allowed me to reach a wider audience and inspire change.
In my weekly Fly Bravely newsletter, I share stories of motherhood, resilience, infertility, and healing through creativity. I believe in the power of positive thinking and synchronicity. I also believe that seemingly different individuals can find common ground through empathy.
As a life coach, I empower individuals to move past trauma and emotional blockages to live a life of grattide. My personal experiences of infertility and loss have deeply influenced my coaching style, allowing me to provide practical guidance and support to those facing similar challenges. I encourage clients to tap into the power of artistic expression to process trauma.
When I'm not writing, you can find me photographing the streets of NYC. As a licensed tour guide, I'm inspired by the city, which has played a part in my healing journey. I live near Central Park with my husband, artist Michael De Feo, our daughter Carolina, and our golden-doodle, Basil. My stepdaughter Marianna attends college in Rhode Island. The one thing we all love, apart from each other, is chocolate peanut butter ice cream.
